The Best Places to Discover the Outdoors in Pleasanton

(New to Pleasanton or to our dental practice? All new patients are eligible for our New Patient Special on cleaning/exam and professional, in-office whitening.)

Being a Pleasanton, CA dentist is an honor, and it’s also a great deal of fun. The reason is simple: our city features some of the most outstanding outdoor getaways in the area. Here are a few of our favorites:

Del Valle Regional Park

Callippe Preserve Golf Course

Set on the floor of a gorgeous oak-lined valley, the Callippe Preserve Golf Course opened 10 years ago as a course designed for the thinking golfer. It has been repeatedly praised as one of the best values among public courses in the Bay area, but in truth we like it for another reason: it’s beautiful.

This is an Audubon Certified golf course that maintains high environmental standards. It even includes nature preserve areas that are home to endangered species. Callippe is a course at one with nature – just how we like them!

Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park

Outdoor lovers are sure to enjoy Pleasanton Ridge. Located off Foothill Road, this sprawling park boasts over 5,000 acres of gorgeous natural land. There is plenty of room to roam thanks to the many hiking trails, and if you’re really want to go crazy, the park is connected with the 150 miles of interconnected trails in the Interpark Regional Trails system.

Pleasanton Fairways Golf Center

No matter your age or skill level, Pleasanton Fairways, also known as the Pleasanton Golf Center, is a great place to spend an afternoon. Located in the Alameda County Fairgrounds, this is a par 3 course almost exclusively featuring shorter holes.

It won’t give you the kind of nature getaway of some other courses, but it will give you lots of fun under the California sun. This is a great spot for your Pleasanton dentist to practice his or her game!

Del Valle Regional Park

Another getaway for those who like to retreat to nature, Del Valle Regional Park is a gorgeous 4,400-acre park that features a five-mile long a lake and miles worth of hiking trails, as well as a resort, swimming, picnic grounds, horse riding, and a whole bunch more. If you want to spend an afternoon in the great outdoors, you can’t go wrong at Del Valle.

Alameda County Fairgrounds

If you’re looking for things to do around Pleasanton, you can’t skip the Alameda County Fairgrounds. This award-winning location boasts more 300 events each year, from music to trade shows and much more.

You can have picnics, catering is available, and there is easy access to the BART and local highways. It’s pretty much everything you could want from an outdoor events location. Plus you can’t forget the Alameda County Fair!

Shadow Cliffs Regional Recreational Area

You won’t have to travel to the middle of nowhere to get this outdoor experience. Located at 2500 Stanley Boulevard, this is a great spot for fishing, and boating. There are a number of public beaches, as well as many walking trails to explore as well.

Sunol Regional Wilderness

There is Mother Nature and then there is Sunol. If you like to get completely immersed in the outdoors when you go for a hike, this is the place for you. Located off Geary Road, the nearly 7,000 acres of this massive park features pastoral hills, herds of grazing cattle, and beautiful vistas. It doesn’t get much lovelier than this!
